Its objective is the development of new combinations of biological and electrochemical technologies for mine tailings and acid mine drainage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our work emphasizes the recovery of the resources contained in them, including metals and\/or rare earth elements, reclaimed water, biomass and\/or energy. In other words, we try to follow the concept of circular economy. These techniques allow the recovery of the starting material under the circular economy principle, improving surface properties such as thermal stability, porosity, number of surface functional groups, electrical conductivity, etc.. Metal mining stands out for its importance, whose main effects come from the dispersion of toxic metals such as Pb, Cd, Zn, As, Cu, etc. and the generation, from the oxidation of pyrite waste, of the so-called acid mine drainage (AMD). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The E-BIORE2MIN Project proposes an\ninnovative and sustainable approach to the solution of the environmental problem considered, since its objective is the development of novel combinations of biological and electrochemical technologies for the treatment of mine tailings (fine-grained mine waste) and AMD, focusing on the recovery of the resources contained therein, including metals and\/or rare earth elements, reclaimed water, biomass and\/or\nenergy; that is, in line with the circular economy long mining tradition dating back to Roman times. Since then, mining activity has generated a large amount of waste that, in many cases, was accumulated in the own mining places without adequate treatment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Actualmente, estos residuos se encuentran abandonados debido al cese de actividad de las empresas que explotaban estos recursos mineros, con los consiguientes problemas ambientales que ello genera. En este contexto, el proyecto Bio-electro MineR2&nbsp;tiene como objetivo combinar biotecnolog\u00eda y tratamientos electroqu\u00edmicos para recuperar los recursos aprovechables, principalmente metales y tierras raras, contenidos en los residuos de miner\u00eda abandonados, logrando de este modo la rehabilitaci\u00f3n ambiental de los entornos contaminados mediante la aplicaci\u00f3n de \u201c<em>RevALorizaci\u00f3n de residuos Mineros para la producci\u00f3n electroqu\u00edmica de especies de Alto valor a\u00f1adido a partir de MATERia vegetal contaminada<\/em>\u201d, de acr\u00f3nimo&nbsp;<em>Alma Mater<\/em>, propone la recuperaci\u00f3n&nbsp;de entornos naturales contaminados por actividades mineras abandonadas desde una \u00f3ptica integral, en la que los residuos procedentes de los procesos de tratamiento son utilizados como la materia prima para la s\u00edntesis de per\u00f3xido de hidr\u00f3geno, reactivo de elevado valor a\u00f1adido.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Esta propuesta est\u00e1 basada en la experiencia obtenida en los proyectos E-BIORE2MIN y Bio-electro MineR2, que se llevan a cabo actualmente en el laboratorio EARTH, pero pretende avanzar en una pretende ser el primer intento de valorizaci\u00f3n de residuos vegetales contaminados, producidos en un proceso natural de tratamiento de aguas residuales, como materia prima para producir materiales carbonosos para aplicaciones ambientales electroqu\u00edmicas de elevado valor a\u00f1adido. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Para alcanzar este hito, esta propuesta tiene como objetivos 1) estudiar la s\u00edntesis de hidrochar, aplicando carbonizaci\u00f3n hidrotermal (HTC) a la biomasa contaminada obtenida tanto de humedales naturales (Parque Nacional de las Tablas de Daimiel) como humedales artificiales (CW) y 2) utilizar este hidrochar como material dopante en la s\u00edntesis de electrodos para ser aplicados en procesos de desinfecci\u00f3n propone la b\u00fasqueda de soluciones a nuevos retos ambientales y energ\u00e9ticos mediante procesos que integran tecnolog\u00edas biol\u00f3gicas y electroqu\u00edmicas (Ech). El principal objetivo es revalorizar materia vegetal herb\u00e1cea\u00a0 residual (denominada en la memoria fitomasa contaminada, PPM) que se genera en emplazamientos contaminados o en procesos\u00a0 fitoremediaci\u00f3n ambiental para la producci\u00f3n de biog\u00e1s en procesos de co-digesti\u00f3n anaerobia (co-AD) mejorada y utilizar posteriormente el digestato de este proceso para la s\u00edntesis, mediante carbonizaci\u00f3n hidrotermal (HTC), de materiales electroqu\u00edmicamente activos (EAMs) con los que llevar a cabo procesos Ech de inter\u00e9s energ\u00e9tico propone la b\u00fasqueda de soluciones a nuevos retos ambientales relacionados con la contaminaci\u00f3n de aguas que cobra especial relevancia debido a la escasez de la misma en Castilla La Mancha,
